Maren Morris, Kenny Chesney Scrap 2020 Tour Plans
Country stars Maren Morris and Kenny Chesney have announced they are postponing tours due to COVID-19.
“In tears writing this but given these unprecedented circumstances, I’ve decided to postpone RSVP: The Tour to 2021,” Morris wrote on social media.
The tour included two Canadian dates: July 10 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary and Sept. 25 at Corona Theatre in Montreal.
“These months have been a rolling wave of uncertainty, hope & reality. Let’s do this at the right time when we can all be together again. Safe, connected and awake to the fact that live music, as a fan or as the one on stage, is even more precious now.”
Morris said the rescheduled dates will be at the same venues so fans should hold on to their tickets – but refunds are available to those who want one.
Chesney, who in March pushed the first 11 dates of his Chillaxification Tour, said there is no way to move forward.
“We have done everything possible… and things I’m not even sure we would’ve thought of three months ago,” the singer explained on social media. “Sadly, we can’t find a way to make it safe, to navigate water that’s just not getting any clearer.”
Chesney said tickets will be honoured at the rescheduled shows or fans can get a refund at that time. There were no Canadian stops on the stadium tour.
“Right now, though,” he said, “it’s you and me and that’s what matters.”
