Sam Smith Shares 'Kids Again' From New Album 'Love Goes'

Sam Smith’s third studio album Love Goes is out now.

Originally titled To Die For, (the title track was released as the lead single in February) and scheduled to drop in June, the album was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Smith says the delay was not only because of the album's ill-timed title.

“It wasn’t ready,” they explained, in a release. “I was on such a fast train of work, travelling and performing that I needed to come home to get some perspective on it all.

“As soon as I changed the title to Love Goes, I just started to get the shape of what this record word was going to be.”

Smith says making the album – the follow-up to 2017’s The Thrill of It All – was both therapeutic and fun.

“Every time I went into the studio, I promised myself I would shoot for the stars and have no limitations,” they said. “My love for music is so broad and all of my musical guilty pleasures became pleasures. No guilt, no shame, just the love of singing and creating and dancing.”

The collection includes previously-released collaborations with Normani (“Dancing With A Stranger”), Demi Lovato (“I’m Ready”) and Calvin Harris (“Promises”) as well as the single "Diamonds."

The album release comes ahead of Friday’s premiere of the video for their new single “Kids Again,” directed by Alasdair McLellan.

“Listen to these songs with an open heart and treat each song like a different flower from the garden,” Smith said, in a release. “Have fun with them. I tried not to take myself too seriously when writing a few of these songs. I hope they make you smile, because they made and make me.”
