Doctors to help with physician recruitment in Nova Scotia

Six doctors from across the province are poised to serve as recruitment leads to help bring more doctors to Nova Scotia.

The provincial government says they will participate in site visits and meet with potential candidates to share their experiences of living and working here.

One doctor has been chosen in each of the central and western zones, while three will job-share the MD recruitment lead in the northern zone: Dr. Justin Blaauwendraat, Dr. Janneke Gradstein, and Dr. Brad MacDougall.

Dr. Gradstein says, "We have learned that the most effective recruitment conversations happen when you connect new physicians with doctors who are passionate about their work and their communities."

Government says the initiative will cost about $376,000 in 2022-23.
