Five youths arrested after sexual assaults on Metro Transit bus

Five youths have been arrested in connection with sexual assaults on a Metro Transit bus in the Lower Sackville area.

Halifax District RCMP began their investigation on October 22nd after receiving a complaint of sexual assaults involving multiple youth offenders and youth victims.

Police say that five youths boarded the route number 87 bus around 9:45 p.m. that day, approached three other youths who were already on the bus, and sexually assaulted them.

The RCMP say the five youths, aged 12 to 14, have since been arrested and released on conditions.

They will appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court at a later date to face charges of sexual assault, uttering threats, and criminal harassment.

Police believe other people traveling on the bus that evening may have witnessed the incident, and are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
