Halifax man arrested for impaired driving following hit and run
A 29-year-old Halifax man faces impaired driving charges after driving on the wrong side of the highway and being involved in a hit and run.
Halifax Regional Police (HRP) received a complaint of a car driving inbound in the outbound lanes of the Bedford Bypass, and located a damaged Chrysler PT Cruiser parked in the median near Dartmouth Road.
An RCMP officer spoke to a man who identified himself as the driver and he was arrested after failing a roadside screening test.
The man is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and impaired operation of a conveyance with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, and was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to drive on the right side of the highway.
The car and driver were later identified as being involved in a hit and run earlier in the evening, and he was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to immediately stop at the scene of a collision.
The man is due in court in February.
