A 35-year old Roxville man is facing charges following a crash in the community in December.

Officers responded at around 8:55 a.m., December 22nd, to a report of a collision on Highway 217, and learned a pickup truck and panel van were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.

Investigators say the only person in the panel van, a 57-year old Bayview man, was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the other driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say they determined the 35-year old's blood alcohol content was above the legal limit at the time of the collision.

The RCMP says Tyler Christian Sachs was charged Thursday with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death, and Operation While Prohibited.

He appeared in Digby Provincial Court on Friday, was released on conditions, and is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday morning.
