Nova Scotia Health extends suspension of water testing in Central Zone

Water testing

Nova Scotia Health is extending the suspension of water testing within the Central Zone until further notice.

A release states chemical and bacterial water testing is unavailable in most of the province, since the QEII lab is the central site for chemical water testing in Nova Scotia, but bacterial water testing is still available in the Western Zone at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

Municipal, registered and private water supply owners are advised to send samples to an alternate accredited water testing facility.

Nova Scotia Health says the pause in testing is necessary to create capacity for COVID-19 testing, and it will reassess the opening of the laboratory to municipal, registered and private water supply owners the week of February 21st.
