Repairs begin at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre emergency department

Nova Scotia Health says repairs to the emergency department at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Amherst have begun after a flood last week.

The department was temporarily closed for a number of hours on May 4th, but was relocated to a temporary space within the hospital.

Officials say the work, which includes replacing damaged drywall, making necessary improvements, and cleaning and preparing the space, could take up to eight weeks.

People seeking emergency care during the renovations are asked to use the hospital main entrance.

Nova Scotia Health says signs have been installed in the building to indicate where services are located, after some ambulatory and physician clinics were moved to accommodate the new emergency department.
