Thousands still waiting for power to be restored following Dorian
As Day 4 of the recovery effort in the Maritimes begins, about 16-thousand are were waiting for power reconnection in P-E-I, and about one thousand in New Brunswick, but a whopping 65 thousand in Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia Power says all customers won't be fixed up until Thursday.
The company says it has found about 37-hundred trees on power lines that stretch across 32-thousand kilometres, and repairs are being made to 300 broken or leaning utility poles.
As well, about 45-hundred outages across Nova Scotia represent individual customers, which means one repair will bring electricity back to only one customer.
During a news conference Tuesday, Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil said the repair teams face a big challenge.
Nova Scotia Power CEO Karen Hutt said she hoped the number of customers still without power would be cut in half by Wednesday.
