Daily Observer to Close
Post Media Closing the Pembroke Daily Observer.
Postmedia has announced the closure of Pembroke's local newspaper, the Daily Observer.
The paper has served the community for more than 163 years. In recent years the paper has had to deal with setbacks after a flood at their offices forced employees to work from home.
Unifor Local 87-M says the closure of the paper is being done to help Postmedia cut costs and pay down debt.
According to CTV Ottawa, the final edition will be July 28. Postmedia will "maintain a web presence and continue publishing the Pembroke News".
