More Details About Cruiser-Van Crash
Some new details have been released about last week's collision involving police cruisers and a van in Petawawa.
Ontario's police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit, says their preliminary investigation reveals that a police officer was traveling east on Petawawa Boulevard, and attempting to turn into the Petawawa Market Mall, when his cruiser became involved in a collision with a westbound van.
An SIU spokesperson says a second police cruiser was also struck as a result of the collision.
The agency says a 56 year old man who was a passenger in the van received serious injuries, and that none of the other injuries were considered serious in nature.
The SIU has assigned two investigators and one "collision reconstructionist" to this case.
They've not made any determination on responsibility.
