Sledders Fined In Police Spot Checks

Pembroke OPP

The Valley’s been one of the best places in Ontario to hit the snowmobile trails this season, but it’s coming with a price for some.

The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP have already been out patrolling the trails and doing enforcement stop checks.

During one patrol on Thursday, January 3, a total of 150 sledders were stopped and two charges were laid under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.

One was fined for failing to display a registration number, and another for not having a trail permit.

Police remind sledders that you have to have proof of insurance, registration and a valid license.

They’ll be doing more patrols on local trails in the weeks to come which will include using radar to check for speeding on the trails.
