Update: Bancroft OPP Investigating Suspicious Death

On March 8, 2020 at approximately 9:00 p.m. officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault at a home on Faraday Street in Bancroft.

OPP officers and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services located an injured 69 year old male at the scene. The victim was transported by ambulance to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Judson GUNTER of Bancroft.

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and the OPP helicopter conducted a search of the area and arrested the suspect shortly after 4:30 a.m. on March 9, 2020.

Timothy GUNTER, 42 years of age of Bancroft has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Breach of Probation. He has been remanded in custody until a bail hearing scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 12, 2020.

The investigation remains ongoing with members of the Bancroft OPP Crime Unit and East Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
