Update: OPP Investigate Vehicle Theft In Petawawa

On the morning of March 2, 2020 the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating the theft of a passenger vehicle from the driveway of a residence on Vermont Meadows in the Town of Petawawa. The vehicle had been stolen during the overnight hours of March 1 to March 2, 2020.  The stolen vehicle was also involved in a theft of gas in Arnprior at approximately 6:00 a.m. on March 2, 2020.

On the evening of March 2, 2020 patrol officers located the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Civic Centre in Petawawa. A 21-year-old was located nearby and found to be in possession of stolen property associated to the vehicle. As a result Colton Blair CLARK, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Theft of motor vehice
  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 - two counts
  • Fail to comply with probation - two counts

The accused is being held for a bail hearing on the afternoon of March 3, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.  

The OPP remind all vehicle owners to take the following steps to reduce their chances of victimization:

•          Roll up your vehicle windows

•          Lock the vehicle and pocket the keys

•          Park in well-lit area if possible

•          Never leave valuables in plain view

Locking up should also be applied to your home, garage, sheds and out-buildings. Lock it or lose it!
