.Chief Longtin started in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter with the Horton Township Volunteer Fire Department in 1979.  In 1985, he was named Fire Chief.   He also served as Fire Chief in Seeley’s Bay from 1988-1992 and became Fire Chief of the Renfrew Fire Department in 1992 until recently.

He assisted the Township of Whitewater Region in an acting capacity in 2017.

Mr. Longtin is a graduate of the Fire Protection Technology Course (Advanced) from the Ontario Fire College.

The Township would like to thank Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan McLaren for his on-going leadership.  He has served as Acting Chief since January.

The Township is reviewing the resourcing and structure of the Fire Department after a successful two-year transition. Fire Services are being examined as part of a joint service delivery review being undertaken with adjacent municipalities that form the Local Efficiency Group, including Arnprior, McNab/Braeside, Renfrew, Greater Madawaska, Horton, Admaston-Bromley.  The review is funded by the Province of Ontario with a report expected this summer.
