Lorde On New Music: 'It Has Been A Very Productive Year'

Lorde said this week she is spending a lot time in the kitchen during self-isolation – and she hinted that she might also be working on new music.

The 23-year-old singer told a radio station in her native New Zealand that she is “baking so much bread” and “staying with a girlfriend and making vegetable tarts (and) lemon loaves.”

As for a follow-up to her 2017 album Melodrama, Lorde isn’t ready to share many details.

“It’s definitely too soon for me to talk about anything,” she said. “I will say that it has been a very productive year.”

In a 2017 interview, Lorde said she looks up to two Canadians as the type of artist she wants to be.

“I want to be Leonard Cohen. I want to be Joni f***ing Mitchell,” she told The Guardian. “And that takes time.

“I want to be really, really good one day. I think I’m pretty good now. I think I’ve made a good start."
