Pure Country 105 Christmas Toy Drive 2020
THE ANNUAL PURE COUNTRY 105 CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVE FOR THE SALVATION ARMY CHRISTMAS APPEAL IS ON!
The Toy Drive began in 1960 as our way of supporting those in need in our community during the holiday season. Going into its 61st year, the Toy Drive continues in that spirt. However, with Covid-19 Health and Safety concerns and an anticipated greater need this year, the Toy Drive will look different.
It is starting early this year due to anticipated increased demand on services and some structural changes.Pure Country 105/Energy 99.7 will Kick off the Toy Drive on November 2nd.For the Salvation Army to be able to serve everyone in need this year, they will have to open the distribution centre on November 16th and keep it open until mid December (30+ days). The Salvation Army will be booking appointments to ensure adequate social distancing, and as required by Peterborough Public Health, all toys will go into a three-day quarantine before being handled by volunteers or clients.
This means that we need toys immediately to ensure everyone has an opportunity to pick a gift for a child in need this Christmas. There will only be two drop off locations this year.Upper level of Lansdowne Place Mall, and the Salvation Army office at 219 Simcoe Street downtown Peterborough. As a constant supply of toys will be needed starting November 16th, volunteers will be collecting donations from these locations every 3-4 days.
In past years there have been 100+ donation locations through out the city and county of Peterborough. Because of the constant need to pick up and distribute toys, there is no physical way volunteers would be able to visit every location to collect donations.Which is why drop offs will be limited to 2 locations. We are asking every business and organization that has been a drop off location in the past, to please still support with an in-house collection, or monetary donation.
We thank everyone in advance for their efforts to help ensure every child has a gift this Christmas, and everyone stays safe and healthy. Please consider as well making a financial donation so that the Salvation Army can address age specific gaps in donations by going to SalvationArmyPTBO.org
