Ontario added 19 more cases of COVID-19 on Friday. It’s the largest single day increase the province has experienced to date. Ontario now has 79 confirmed cases. It’s important to note that Ontario has conducted more than 51 hundred tests, nearly 45 hundred have been negative and there are nearly 600 cases that are under investigation.>

Quebec has taken steps to close daycares, elementary schools, high schools CEGEPS and universities. Nova Scotia is requiring all public sector employees who travel outside Canada to self- isolate for 14 days before returning to work. Premier Stephen McNeil also announced that any student or child in daycare who travels outside the country must self-isolate for 14 days before returning to class or daycare. NS has yet to identify a single active case of COVID-19. So far 226 lab tests have returned negative.

A team of researchers from McMaster University in Hamilton, the University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Research Institute in Toronto has managed to isolate the virus that causes COVID-19. https://sunnybrook.ca/research/media/item.asp?c=2&i=2069&f=covid-19-isolated-2020

STAT NEWS is reporting that a Cambridge, Mass. based biotech company has already produced a COVID-19 VACCINE. But it comes with a warning. According to BLOOMBERG, Doctors in Wuhan China say they’ve noticed patients with high blood pressure appear to be at higher risk of dying from the virus.

Nearly half of the Wuhan patients who died in January had hypertension.

Du Bin is quoted in the story. He’s the director of the ICU at Peking Union Medical College Hospital. He says “Though there is no research published on that yet, we believe hypertension could be an important factor in causing patients to deteriorate, leading to a bad prognosis.”
