Christmas Card Drive For First Nation in Midst of Suicide Crisis
With the youth crisis unfolding in the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation community, a former school staff member, Linda Johnson, is reaching out to the public asking for Christmas cards of hope and support to be sent to the students at the school. Johnson said that this would be a way to know that people are thinking of them.
In November, this northwest Saskatchewan community had declared a state of emergency after a 10-year-old girl took her own life - the third youth suicide in recent months.
If interested please send your cards to the school before December 18, when the kids will break for Christmas.
