Need to Know: Mandatory Masks, Municipal Election, & Winters Coming

NEED-TO-KNOW-POLOPOLY

Starting today, masks will be required in Regina, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert when people are in indoor public spaces.

The public health order will be in place for 28 days, then subject to review by the chief medical health officer.

Saskatchewan schools in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert will not be affected by the mandatory mask order.

The province is also reducing the number of people that can gather in private and home settings.

Starting today, a maximum of 10 people will be allowed to gather in private settings. Previously, 15 people could gather.

City of Regina Prepared for Winter Weather

A snowstorm is predicted to hit Saskatchewan with up to 30 cm of snow in some areas. The City is prepared with approximately 60 pieces of equipment ready to respond to keep residents safe and traffic moving.

During a snow event, we work to keep major roads drivable by plowing snow and applying ice control at high-risk intersections. This means our focus is on roads with the greatest volume of traffic, high-speed roads and emergency routes. This pattern continues until the snow has stopped falling.

With the municipal election on Monday, the City is also prepared to adjust our winter response plan to ensure residents can access polling stations. During the Sunday night shift, crews will focus on major roads and those in front of polling stations.

Free Transit on Election Day

On Election Day, Monday, November 9, voters get a free ride to the polls on Regina Transit using conventional bus or paratransit service.

Transit riders can either print the pass from Regina.ca/transit or show the bus operator the pass on their phone.

Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. All polling locations are wheelchair accessible.

To find your poll location use the ‘My Voter Info’ tool at Regina.ca/elections which customizes voting information based on your address.
