Sudbury Police Locate & Arrest Wanted Fugitive

The following is a release from Sudbury Police:

46-year-old, Brent Liefers has been arrested on the six outstanding arrest warrants in relation to Intimate Partner Violence.

He will attend Bail Court today, March 15, 2023 to answer to the charges.

We would like to thank the public for its assistance with this matter.

We are requesting the public’s assistance to locate 46-year-old, Brent Liefers as he is wanted on six outstanding arrest warrants for numerous offences in relation to Intimate Partner Violence incidents including;

Criminal Harassment x7
Forcible Confinement
Intimidation
Assault
Uttering Threats
Harassing Telecommunications
Fail to Comply with Release Order x3
Fail to Comply with Undertaking x3
Breach of Probation Order x2

Sudbury Bridge of Nations Traffic Bottleneck

Prep work on the Paris Street Bridge of Nations begins Monday ahead of repairs that will start April 3. Traffic will be one lane in each direction for the duration starting on the east side of the bridge with all traffic routed to the west. Work is expected to be completed by the end of October.

On March 17, 2023, shortly after 8:00 a.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of catalytic converters from two local businesses on Highway 17 in the Village of Spragge. A suspicious black car and a person walking along the Highway were seen in the area.
