Big rig driver faces charges after several driving complaints to police


A transport truck driver and his employer both face charges after a reports of a transport driving erratically on Highway in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands. 

Leeds OPP said officers responded to multiple reports of a big rig driving dangerously on the eastbound 401 around 7:30 a.m. Monday. 

Officers pulled the transport over near Brockville and after an investigation, police said the man was charged with numerous offences under the Highway Traffic Act. 

The 67-year-old man from Etobicoke, Ontario faces five charges including careless driving, failing to show a license, failing to maintain a daily log or provide it to officers and failure to complete a daily inspection report. 

Police said the unnamed company has also been charged with permitting a person to drive a commercial vehicle against regulations and failure to monitor driver's compliance.
