Brockville Police warn of scams
Brockville Police are warning residents of a number of scams that are currently making the rounds in the area.
Police said a scam was reported Wednesday where someone had posted an apartment online but when a resident showed up at the address, the home had already been sold and a new family had been moving in. Police said, fortunately, the person did not give a deposit for the rental.
A number of phone calls also reported door-to-door salespeople identifying themselves as employees of a telecommunications company had been in the Reynolds Drive area, as police said a number of reports indicated the people were trying to get access to their homes.
Police remind residents that door-to-door salespeople are required to notify the City of Brockville of their presence and most legitimate salespeople will carry ID with them from the company.
The warning from Brockville Police warning comes after the OPP in Grenville County made a similar warning this week about door-to-door visitors in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal.
