Brockville's COVID-19 Assessment Centre has moved to an appointment only model as of Monday.

All test centres in Ontario have made the same move as the province tries to address a backlog of tests waiting to be processed.

The Memorial Centre testing centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday with those attending the site given appointment times after its confirmed a test is needed. The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Distric Health Unit said it hopes to have an online booking system up and running in the coming days but that the walk-up booking system will continue in the meantime.

Tests are also being limited to those exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or those who have been ordered to get one by a health professional.

Smiths Falls and Almonte testing centres are also appointment only with residents asked to prebook by phone.

The province paused walk-in testing at centres so it can catch up on a backlog of roughly 79,000 untested swabs.
