Eight charges laid in noisy car crack down

Upper Valley OPP laid eight charges during a recent crack down on loud, illegally modified cars in the Renfrew County area.

Police said Operation Decibel ran from Aug. 25 through Aug. 28 and resulted in eight drivers being charged with improper mufflers under the Highway Traffic Act. Two drivers were also charged with red light offences, according to police.

OPP warned although the campaign has wrapped, officers will still be on the lookout for vehicles with illegal exhaust and other illegal modifications, unsafe vehicle conditions and aggressive driving.
