Eight new COVID cases in Tri-County area, pop up testing to continue
Eight new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Tri-County area on Monday.
The latest cases in the area come the same day eight other patients had recovered from the virus, leaving eight active cases as of Tuesday morning.
There were 615 new cases in Ontario on Monday, the eighth straight day the province reported above 500 new cases.
Ontario moved to appointment only COVID-19 testing centres as of Tuesday and the assessement centre at Brockville's Memorial Centre is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily this week but residents must book an appointment by going to the site. The Health Unit said its working to implement an online booking system but will book appointments in-person until that happens.
A pop-up mobile testing site is also open in Athens on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Centre 75 on Henry Street. Another one will be set up at the Gananoque Arena in Gananoque on Thursday. Both are first come, first served and testing priority is for those with COVID-19 symptoms and close contacts of positive cases.
Residents should bring their health card, a driver's licence and wear a mask.
