Family and Children's Services in Kingston has cancelled its kids' summer camp program because of the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

Family and Children's Services with Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox and Addington said it was "with a heavy heart" that they made the announcement in a news release on Monday morning.

"The program has been in place for many years and uses charitable dollars to send the kids we serve to camps around our region," the statement read, adding 145 kids were sent to camp last year, but that zero will be going last year.

The plan is to restart the program once it is safe to do so, but no plans have been made for future camps.
