The Fort Town Night Run in Prescott will move ahead later this month after initially being postponed back in May because of COVID-19.

The run is now being held Friday, Sept. 26 and instead of the strictly evening event as usual, it will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with designated times for participants.

Organizer Julie Larose said the staggered times and longer event allows for physical distancing among participants, but that some extra help is needed.

"We do need a lot more volunteers than we did in the past, but we figured this would be the safest way that everyone could still have a chance to run," she said.

Registration is open until Sept. 23. 5 km, 10 km and 15 km distances are available for participants with registration details on the event's website.

Just under 300 people had registered as of Tuesday and a cap of 400 people is in place for the event this year.

A kid's event is also being held Saturday, Sept. 27.
