John Counter Boulevard to close for seven weeks

(City of Kingston)

John Counter Boulevard will close to traffic starting next week, starting an eight-week closure as final work is completed on the new overpass.

The road is closed starting Tuesday, Sept. 8 from Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard to Princess Street to allow for the work, which includes removing crane pads that have been used for construction, as well as finishing touches on the overpass.

John Counter Boulevard and Portsmouth Avenue will be open to local traffic only and local businesses will remain open, with detours in place down Princess Street or Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard.

The city said once work is completed and the road re-opens, the overpass will be fully open to traffic.
