Kingston COVID-19 assessment centre re-opens Thursday
Kingston's COVID-19 Assessment Centre at the Beechgrove Complex has re-opened Thursday after being forced to close early on Wednesday because of high demand.
The assessment centre closed around 1 p.m. Wednesday after Kingston Health Sciences Centre said it had reached capacity.
IMPORTANT UPDATE - September 30: Due to very high volumes, the #COVID19 Assessment Centre in #ygk has reached capacity and will not perform any more testing today. The centre will re-open tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. pic.twitter.com/KfrqJyKyDX— KingstonHSC (@KingstonHSC) September 30, 2020
Wait times have steadily increased at the centre with some patrons waiting between four and five hours for a test this week. The centre is currently performing upwards of 700 tests per day.
KHSC asks those going to the centre not arrive before 9 a.m. to help with traffic in the area.
"Thank you for your patience & consideration at this time."
