Kingston reports no COVID cases for second straight day


The Kingston-area reported no new cases of COVID-19 for a second straight day on Wednesday while one person also recovered from the virus. 

The new recovery leaves five active cases of the virus in the Kingston-area and no patients in hospital as of Thursday morning. 

Ontario recorded 987 new cases and 16 new deaths Wednesday, which is the highest single-day death toll reported since mid-June. 

The province’s seven-day average for number of cases reported now stands at 972, the highest it has ever been, with hotspots still in Toronto, Peel, York and Ottawa. 

Wednesday's report brings Ontario's total number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases to 79,692, including 3,182 deaths and 68,189 recoveries. With 28,567 tests processed in the previous day, the province’s COVID-19 positivity rate is sitting at 3.5 per cent.
