Appointments at Kingston's COVID-19 assessment centre can now be booked online or by phone.

Kingston Health Sciences Centre said online booking would be available starting Tuesday for the test site at the Beechgrove Complex, with appointments being made through the EventBrite website. Online bookings can be made up to two days in advance and one person can book an appointment for up to four people.

Test appointments can also be booked by phone at 613-548-2376 for those without access to a computer. Phones will be answered between 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The province moved to appointment-only testing at assessment centres last week as a way to clear a backlog over tests, but the Beechgrove Complex had only been booking appointments with those who physically showed up to the site to book a time.

Tests will only be given to those who meet provincial guidelines for testings and residents are asked to complete an online self-assessment to determine if they require a test.

The assessment centre is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
