Kiwanis Club Toy Drive moves ahead, not accepting toys this year

An important local holiday service is pressing on, despite added difficulties from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Kiwanis Club Toy Drive is a go this season, giving gifts to less fortunate children around the Pembroke area.

A big change this year, though: the club is not accepting toys or physical donations, due to safety concerns. Instead, the Kiwanis Club is asking supporters to donate money via e-transer or mailed cheques.

Here's how you can donate:

- Cheques made out to Kiwanis Club Toy Drive, mailed to Pembroke Kiwanis, 961 Pembroke St., Pembroke, ON, K8A 8R4
- E-transfer to, using password "Toys"
- Drop cash or cheque off at Studio Dreamshare in Pembroke at 18 Pembroke St. W.

There will also be a toy drive telethon held on social media on Dec. 6.

Families in need of the service must register on Nov. 23 or Nov. 30 between 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the St. Joseph's Food Bank at 295 1st Avenue North.
