Nearly $90K of drugs, tobacco seized from drone at Collins Bay Institution
Staff at Collins Bay Institution have seized nearly $90,000 worth of contraband including drugs and tobacco after a drone was intercepted near the prison.
The Correction Service of Canada said the package contained marijuana, shatter, xanax and an unknown powder that could be fentanyl. It said the total street value of the drugs was $89,185.
"CSC is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone," the service said in a statement.
Prison staff continue to investigate and asks anyone with information in connection to the seizure to contact the federal contraband tip line at 1-866-780-3784.
