No new COVID cases for second straight day in Tri-County area
Leeds, Grenville and Lanark reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday for a second straight day, while more people also recovered from the virus.
There are seven active cases in the region as of Thursday morning and no patients in hospital. That's down from a recent-high of 22 active cases just last week.
Ontario recorded 987 new cases and 16 new deaths Wednesday, which is the highest single-day death toll reported since mid-June.
The province’s seven-day average for number of cases reported now stands at 972, the highest it has ever been, with hotspots still in Toronto, Peel, York and Ottawa.
Wednesday's report brings Ontario's total number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases to 79,692, including 3,182 deaths and 68,189 recoveries. With 28,567 tests processed in the previous day, the province’s COVID-19 positivity rate is sitting at 3.5 per cent.
