Ottawa River Power Corporation warns of scam
Ottawa River Power Corporation is warning customers about a phone scam making the rounds in the area.
Several customers have reported unsolicited phone calls offering assistance during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Utility. The caller claims to be a representative of the Government and offers assistance with programs available, but ORP said programs are customer initiated and the company will not reach out in this way.
Our customers are receiving phone calls re assistance during COVID. Callers claim to represent the Government. This is a phone scam. Assistance programs offered by the Gov't, OEB or ORPC are customer initiated. We advise to not provide any information, call our office first.— Ottawa River Power (@ORPowerCorp) November 5, 2020
The Utility calls it a scam and said any customers looking for more information or clarification can call their office directly.
