Pembroke man rushed to hospital after truck flips in Laurentian Valley


A man is in critical condition in hospital after a pickup truck flipped in Laurentian Valley on Sunday night and ejected the driver. 

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP said a northbound pickup truck left Whitewater Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday and struck a fence and guide wires on a utlity pole. 

The 22-year-old man from Petawawa who was driving the truck was thrown from the vehicle and taken to hospital by ambulance before being airlifted to an Ottawa hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the 20-year-old male passenger in the truck was not hurt. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and Whitewater Road was closed overnight as officer probed the scene but it re-opened around 6 a.m.
