As COVID-19 testing capacity continues to increase across the Tri-County area, two more mobile units are being set up on Wednesday and Friday.

The Carmabeck Community Centre in Carleton Place will host a pop-up drive-thru testing centre from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

A second pop-up testing site will be at Conlon Farm Recreation Complex in Perth from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday.

Both centres are by-appointment only and walk-ins will not be accepted. Reservations will be taken online through the Eventbrite website.

Dr. Paula Stewart, Medical Officer of Health for the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit, said in a statement one of the key strategies to managing the local transmission of COVID-19 is to identify cases early through testing.

"The sooner we learn that someone has tested positive, the sooner we can provide support and guidance to them, and the sooner we can begin contact tracing to minimize the spread to others."

The mobile testing units are a partnership between Almonte General Hospital, Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital, Lanark County Paramedic Service, the Health Unit and local primary care providers.
