Rapids Skate Park closes as COVID-19 cases rise

Rapids Skate Park. (City of Pembroke)

The Rapids Skate Park in Pembroke has closed to the public until further notice.

The City said the move was made out of an abundance of caution with COVID-19 cases on the rise and the park closed as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"With positive COVID-19 cases rising in both Renfrew County and Ontario, as well as a lack of supervision now available at the park to ensure existing regulations can be properly followed, it has been closed for the health and safety of both those who utilize the park and the community as a whole," the City said in a statement.

It said the decision to close the park will be re-evaluated "as circumstances and regulations dictate."
