Renfrew County reports no COVID cases for third straight day

Renfrew County reported no new cases of COVID-19 for a third-straight day on Thursday but one class at a Petawawa school has been asked to self-isolate as a precaution.

One secondary class at Valour JK-12 School in Petawawa has been asked to self-isolate as a precaution after two students tested positive earlier this week.

The Renfrew County and District Health Unit said there have been no more positive cases and the move is being made out of an abundance of caution.

"The school remains open for all other learners and staff members."

Renfrew County has eight active cases of COVID-19 on Friday morning after four more people recovered from the virus Thursday. No patients are in hospital.

Ontario reported another 998 new cases and 13 more deaths on Thursday, slightly lower than the 16 deaths reported Wednesday, the highest since mid-June.

The province completed nearly 35,800 tests over the previous day, higher than the 28,000 recorded Wednesday, but is still well short of the province's 50,000 daily test capacity.

381 patients in Ontario are in hospital with COVID-19, including 86 in intensive care and 48 on a ventilator.
