Temporary COVID-19 Assessment Centre to open on Canada Day

With an outbreak of COVID-19 that's affected dozens of residents as of Friday morning, a temporary COVID-19 assessment centre is being opened at St. Lawrence College on Canada Day.

The temporary assessment centre will be openfor walk-up and drive-through testing in the parking lot from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday. Visitors are asked to enter off of Portsmouth Avenue.

The permanent testing centre that moved to the Leon's Centre on Monday will be closed on Canada Day and re-open on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kingston Public Health officials said residents should only get tested at the temporary centre if they're a customer connected to the outbreak at Binh's nail salon, have had close contacts with someone who has tested positive or if they have COVID-19 symptoms.

Residents are reminded to bring their Health Card and to wear a mask and practice physical distancing.
