'Toys for Tickets' fundraiser cancelled this year
Kingston's annual 'Toys for Tickets' Christmas fundraiser has been cancelled this year because of COVID-19.
The campaign normally sees toys accepted instead of parking fines but this year the City will donate $6,850 to a local toy drive instead, which is the amount that's typically raised for the event.
Officials said the program is expected to return in 2021.
"Toys for Tickets is a long-running, successful program that will return in future years," Brad Frink, Supervisor of Parking Enforcement said in a news release.
"We are committed to continuing our support during these challenging times and recognize that this annual contribution makes a difference for many children during the holiday season."
The 2019 campaign raised $6,500 worth of toys from over 450 donations.
