Arrest made.



Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are investigating an alleged assault that occurred at Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park during the setup of a local trail race.

Police say just after 1:00 pm, on September 11th they responded to Kalamalka Lake Provincial park for an alleged assault that had just occurred as race organizers were setting up for a 100km race. Front line officers learned that a man was discovered in the park who had been removing markers set in place to mark the course.

“During setup two volunteers encountered a male removing markers from the course and when confronted, the male suspect allegedly became confrontational and assaulted one of the volunteers,” states RCMP Cst. Kelly Brett. “Race organizers had permission by BC Parks to utilize flags and markers for the 100 km race within the provincial park boundaries.”

The victim who was assaulted sustained no physical injuries during the incident. A 59 year old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and is facing possible assault charges.
