How to stay safe and support downtown Vernon businesses

dva

The safety of Downtown Vernon’s residents, workers and visitors is of the utmost importance to us here at the Downtown Vernon Association (DVA). We want you to know that we are monitoring all recommendations and updates from government officials surrounding COVID-19, and we will inform our stakeholders of relevant changes. The first priority for everyone is to take appropriate steps to limit the spread of COVID-19 and ensure our entire community remains healthy.

Our community health as a whole depends on working together, and our small businesses are the lifeblood of the Downtown Vernon economy. We want to make sure they continue to stay successful while maintaining appropriate public health safety measures. Many community and business events around the region have been cancelled. In her March 12, 2020 announcement, Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer, directed all event organizers to cancel any immediate gathering of more than 250 people.

At this time, the DVA plans for the 2020 Sunshine Festival and Civic Sounds concerts are continuing in the hope that these health issues will be resolved by June. We ask for your continued support with registering for vendor booths and sponsorship opportunities knowing that should the events be cancelled, that you will receive a full refund of any registration fees.

On behalf of the DVA, we want to reassure our members, shoppers and visitors that we have been, and continue to work diligently to monitor the situation locally. We are working together with The City of Vernon, other organizations and health authorities, adjusting our plans and promotions as necessary.

We appreciate your support of your local downtown business community and look forward to welcoming everyone back to #DiscoverDowntown soon.
