Sicamous Man Dies in Snowmobiling Incident


On Sunday December 9,  at 2:55pm, the Sicamous RCMP received a report of a possible fatal snowmobile accident in the Queest Mt Forest Service Road area north of Sicamous. Police were advised that the man had been guiding a group of 5 others snowmobilers when his snowmobile accidentally rolled into a creek bed and pinned him underneath. CPR was administered by the group however they were unable to revive the man.

The Shuswap Search and Rescue Team (SSAR) was activated by the Sicamous RCMP and were able to get to locate the group and confirmed the fatality. The SSAR technicians were able to get the other snowmobilers out of the area, however, the removal of the deceased was not possible at that time due to the terrain, darkness and weather conditions.

Police are providing support to the man’s next of kin.

The Sicamous RCMP continues to assist the BC Coroners Service with their investigation into the incident and the man’s death. Efforts to remove the deceased are to resume on Monday.

No further information is begin released by RCMP or the Coroners Service at this time.
