Anne Murray Mourns Death Of Brother Bruce Murray
Canadian music icon Anne Murray is mourning the loss of her younger brother Bruce Murray, who died Sept. 15 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 69.
Bruce was at his home in Toronto surrounded by his wife of 47 years Corinne and sons James and Daniel.
“He was a singer extraordinaire, a beloved teacher who touched the lives of many students and an author,” Anne wrote in a tribute on Facebook. “He was a compassionate & sweet man.... with a kind word for everyone. Our hearts are broken.”
Bruce released a self-titled album in 1975 and followed with There’s Always A Goodbye in 1979 and Two Hearts in 1984. He gave his time to direct 19 student musicals and, in his latter years, competed as a ballroom dancer.
Bruce had five older siblings (including Anne, 75). His family hopes to hold a celebration of life once COVID-19 restrictions are over.
