Whitney Houston Estate Shares New Lyric Video For 'Greatest Love Of All'
The Whitney Houston Estate has partnered with Black Archives to come up with a timely new visual for the singer’s 1986 power ballad “Greatest Love of All.”
The lyric video uses images and clips from the Black Archives collection interspersed with scenes of the late singer.
“The lyric video artfully unites these images in harmony with the moving lyrics of the song to embody the beauty, joy, expression and pride within the black community,” read a release, "specifically through our black youth.”
The Black Archives was created by Chicago-based artist Renata Cherlise in 2015 to collect and share the “histories and modern-day stories from across the African diaspora.”
“Greatest Love of All,” written by Linda Creed and Michael Masser, was a hit for Houston in 1985 – eight years after it was a hit for George Benson. The song was included on her self-titled debut album, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.
The album is being re-issued on June 30 as a double LP vinyl set with the first domestic release of the 1986 remix album Whitney’s Dancing Special.
Houston died in 2012 at 48.
