Chance The Rapper Postpones Tour

Chance the Rapper is postponing his upcoming tour – including dates in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa – to focus on family.

This past weekend, the 26-year-old rapper’s wife Kirsten shared news that they welcomed their second daughter Marli.

“I thought it over for the past week and I’ve decided to push back my tour,” he explained in an Instagram post late Monday. “This year has been one of the greatest of my life; Marriage, new baby, first album etc. But with it being so eventful it has also been very strenuous having to divide my time and energy between family and work.”

Chance recalled he went on tour two weeks after his daughter Kensli was born in 2015 “and missed some of the most important milestones in her life, but more importantly I was absent when her mother needed me the most.

“At this point as a husband and father of two I realize that I can’t make that mistake again. I need to be as helpful and available as possible to my wife in these early months of raising Kensli and Marli.”

Chance’s Nov. 4 concert in Toronto has been bumped to Feb. 12 and his Nov. 7 show in Montreal has moved to Feb. 13. A new date for his Nov. 5 concert in Ottawa has not yet been announced.

“I apologize because I know how many people were counting on seeing me soon, but I hope you’ll understand and forgive me in time,” he said.

Concert promoter Live Nation said in a release: “We congratulate Chance on the birth of his daughter and support him while he takes time to be with his family. We are thrilled to welcome him back on the road in 2020.”
