WATCH: Pentatonix Covers The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights'
Pentatonix chose Canada Day to release the video for its version of Canadian singer The Weeknd’s hit “Blinding Lights.”
It is the second track off the a cappella group’s EP At Home, a collection of six songs created during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“Arranging and recording an EP’s-worth of music and videos without once being in the same room as your band mates or a producer was super-challenging and definitely bizarre,” said Pentatonix member Scott Hoying, in a release, “but I know that collectively we were inspired by the strength, creativity and resourcefulness of people around the globe throughout the past months.”
In addition to “Blinding Lights,” At Home has covers of Billie Eilish’s “when the party’s over,” Dua Lipa’s “Break My Heart,’ Clean Bandit’s “Cologne” and The Cranberries classic “Dreams.” Also on the EP is a “Home” mashup that features part of Canadian singer Michael Bublé’s 2005 hit “Home.”
“Blinding Lights” was written by The Weeknd and fellow Canadians Belly and Jason Quenneville with Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Oscar Holter.
