Two killed in Shediac head-on collision

The Southeast District RCMP says it is investigating a head-on crash that claimed two lives in Shediac on Thursday.

Officers responded around 10:30 a.m. for a report of a head-on collision between an eastbound SUV and a westbound car on Highway 15.

Police say they believe the collision occurred when the car crossed the centre line and collided with the SUV, causing the car to catch fire.

RCMP say the male driver and sole occupant of the car and a 64-year-old female passenger in the SUV died at the scene, while the driver of the SUV, a woman in her seventies, was taken to hospital with what are considered to be non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
